Joslin Memorial Library (click here to register) Mondays, 10 am Warren Public Library* Wednesdays, 10:30 am Moretown Memorial Library* Resumes in August; Fridays, 10:30 am *No registration required the caterpillar labSaturday, July 10th 12-3 pm (drop-in, no registration required) Knoll Farm, Fayston Come visit with The Caterpillar Lab of Keene, NH and meet some little-known native critters. This event will feature a variety of New England caterpillar species with plenty to see and touch! Educators will teach about the often-misunderstood process of metamorphosis and tell incredible but true stories about the creatures’ strange and surprising adaptations. Made possible in part by the Vermont Department of Libraries. TURTLE TALES AND Painted scalesSunday, July 25th 3:00 pm Warren Public Library Come to the library to hear turtle stories, then tell (and paint) your own! We'll decorate fabric "scutes" (turtle scales) to add to quilted "carapace" (turtle shell) for our libraries. Make a scute story to take home, too! Family concert with a2vtco-sponsored by the Mad River Valley Rotary Mad River Green, Waitsfield Sunday, August 15th*, 5:30-7pm *PLEASE NOTE THE DATE OF THIS EVENT HAS CHANGED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER (previously scheduled for 8/1) Representing Somalia, Tanzania and Burundi and currently living in Burlington, Vermont, A2VT synthesizes their native African musical and dance roots with Western pop and Hip Hop sensibilities. Their songs, performed in up to eight unique languages, reflect their journey from Africa to America, and celebrate the musical collision of two continents and the party that ensues! Storywalk® and fairy villageMonth of July Chase Brook Trail, Mad River Path, Fayston Revisit this favorite feature of last year's summer learning program! Read as you walk the enchanted Chase Brook section of the Mad River Path, right across from Fayston Elementary School. We'll be featuring the book The Mole Sisters and the Fairy Ring by Roslyn Schwartz. If you feel so inspired when you've reached the end, add a creation to the fairy village. Keep your eyes peeled; you just might catch sight of a fairy or gnome sneaking around the forest! Special thanks to the Mad River Path Association and the Fayston Conservation Commission VERMONT WILDLIFE WITH SVNHMSaturday, July 17th 1 pm Moretown Recreation Fields A variety of live animals will be on-hand to put a face to the challenges Northeastern wildlife must rise to meet. Creatures of the DeepSaturday, July 31st 10:00 am Pond at Valley Animal Hospital, Waitsfield Would you like to learn more about wildlife in a wet environment? We'll visit a local pond with our nets and magnifiers to explore the curious life beneath the water. This outdoor family program is suitable for all ages. |
