2024 MRV LIBRARIES'
ADVENTURE HUNT
In the spirit of geocaching and letterboxing, the MRV Libraries bring you a Valley-wide stamp scavenger hunt! Earlier this year, children submitted designs that we turned into rubber stamps. These stamps will be hidden throughout the Valley in 8 top-secret locations...can you follow the clues to find them all?
Each hidden box will have a stamp, ink pad, visitor journal, and clue leading you to the next location. YOU bring your own adventure passport. Your passport can either be a regular notebook or one that you made at our first Farmer's Market event, and we also have a few extras at the libraries while supplies last. When you locate a box, stamp your passport. When you've collected all 19 unique stamps, come to the library for a prize. Good luck, adventurers! |
After July 7th, new clues revealed every Saturday in July*
*each box has a clue that leads to the next, so you only need one clue to get started and complete the Adventure Hunt. We'll release more clues so new Adventure Hunters can try from a different starting point. If you get totally stumped on any of the clues, feel free to stop in and ask Cory at Moretown, Amanda at Warren, or Anna at Joslin for some hints!

1st Clue (revealed July 7th)
The newest town Forest in Fayston has everything you could want for a day of recreation: a pond, a hilltop hike with sweeping Green Mountain views, loads of wild blackberries, and also a hidden Adventure Hunt box! To find it, start at the gate and head in the direction you’d go to take a dip. Keep walking past the cellar hole, but if you’ve gotten to a spot you’d sit for a snack, you’ve gone too far. Notice a cluster of swaying birches growing among some boulders, then look for a place you could go to stay dry if it started to rain (although you’d have to crouch down!).

2nd Clue (revealed July 13th)
If you like your summer swim spots to be shaped like letters, we suggest taking a dip in this refreshing “S” with a covered bridge that crosses over. Lots of people have the same idea, so there’s plenty of parking. Head to the back of the lot where you’ll climb a short, steep hill that takes you to the beach and hang left. An old foundation is showing its age with plenty of moss-covered crevices and cracks. The next Adventure Hunt box is tucked snugly in one, right at the foot of a dead tree.

3rd Clue (revealed July 20th)
The Mad River Path has lots to explore: near this trail you'll see dogs at play, tennis aces, kids on half pipes, and more. Follow a book you can read as you walk toward your goal. When you pass page 13 you’ll find a home for a troll. Peek under the stones to find the Adventure Hunt box and your next clue.
